International Education Week 2008
Join in with hundreds of Victorian students and staff from Universities, TAFE institutions, private VET providers, English language providers, and Schools, in celebrating International Education Week from 17 - 21 March 2008.
International Education Week, now in its fourth year, allows students around Victoria to celebrate the contribution that international education brings to the State, recognising the diversity and benefits that international students make to Victoria’s cultural life. The thousands of Victorians who study and participate in programs overseas also add to the cultural richness of Victoria’s institutions.
The Victorian Departments of Education and Training and Innovation, Industry and Regional Development would like you to come on board and help celebrate by raising the profile of international education in your institution. Teachers, students, parents and communities are invited to initiate and participate in a range of activities in their own schools and communities to celebrate International Education Week. Some suggestions include:
- Organise an international music or dance performance
- Host seminar sessions on studying abroad, exchange or volunteering overseas
- Boost interaction with your sister school overseas
- Host an international cuisine and cultural day
- Arrange some foreign film screenings
- Open days featuring performances by LOTE students
- Day trips for international students or visits to sites within Melbourne
- Seminars by International Teaching Fellows and exchange students
Welcome Receptions for International Students will be held across the state during International Education Week. For further information, please contact Anastasia Kavadis on 61 3 9651 3841 or kavadis.anastasia.a@edumail.vic.gov.au
