International Education Week 2009
Celebrating international students & their contribution to Victorian schools & communities
1st - 7th March 2009
International Education Week is held annually to celebrate the diversity international education brings to Victoria. Its purpose is to increase awareness of the benefits and contributions international students make to Victoria’s cultural richness.
International Education Week provides an opportunity to appreciate the benefits the Victorian community and Victorian schools receive from hosting international students. It also introduces overseas students to the support networks available to them in education institutions and the wider community.
Events planned for IEW in 2009 include:
- A welcome reception at Government House on Tuesday 3rd March from 11.00am - 1.00pm for international school students based in the metropolitan area
- A welcome event for international students at Federation Square on Sunday 1st March hosted by the City of Melbourne
- Welcome receptions in regional centres, including Bendigo, Gippsland, Warrnambool, Geelong and Ballarat
- Seminars on topics of interest to the tertiary sector
- A range of celebratory events in schools and other education providers.
