Homestay Bake-off Competition to win one of 3 prizes each containing:

Competition categories
To enter, currently enrolled onshore international secondary school students need to bake a dessert with their homestay families. Students and their homestay families can choose a dessert in any of the following 3 categories:

Traditional Western dessert (entries must represent a traditional Australian or Western dessert). Entries close 5pm Melbourne time, Friday 8 October 2021.

Cultural dessert (entries must represent the cultural background of the student or any homestay family member). Entries close 5pm Melbourne time, Friday 22 October 2021.

Creative dessert (entries can represent any dessert creation, with a focus on originality). Entries close 5pm Melbourne time, Friday 5 November 2021.
How to enter
To enter the competition, simply create a dessert with your homestay family and submit a video or three photographs as evidence to demonstrate cooking of the dessert. The video or three photographs must demonstrate the following stages:

Before: outlining ingredients, and;

During: outlining cooking of the dessert with student and homestay family featured, and;
-
After: close-up outlining the finished result (with or without student and homestay family featured).
Submit your video or three photographs along with the Participation and Privacy Consent Forms
Students under 18 and / or
Adults to the Department of Education and Training via email to
international.marketing@education.vic.gov.au by the close of each competition category submission date.
Entries must comply with competition rules and criteria, including theme, include a name of the dessert, and will be judged based on the following equally weighted selection criteria by a panel of judges including school home economics teachers:
- Quality of overall presentation (a score out of 10)
- Cooking technique (a score out of 10)
- Creativity, colour and vibrancy (a score out of 10).
The winners and runners-up of the draw will be notified by email and their first names and schools published on the Department's social media channels and website. For more information, see:
